The Kilohana Hula Show, presented by Southwest Airlines, is a modern reimagining of the classic hula shows of Waikīkī.
This new show features Merrie Monarch Festival dancers, and is produced by the former entertainment stage director from the renowned Old Lahaina Lū‘au, bringing authentic Hawaiian hula and culture to Waikīkī for visitors and kama‘āina to experience.
The FREE show takes place every Sunday through Wednesday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Waikīkī Shell Amphitheater. E welina mai kākou!

Kilohana translates to “the fine outer layer of a decorated sheet of kapa.” Metaphorically, it represents excellence in wisdom refined over generations.
Experience Kilohana by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) provides an authentic showcase of Hawaiian traditions centered around the iconic Waikīkī Shell. Through exceptional celebrations of culture, interactive activities deepening understanding, and an artisan marketplace uplifting local practitioners, we aim to perpetuate Hawaiian traditions, foster meaningful exchanges where both residents and visitors give and receive, and inspire mindful stewardship of these Islands we call home.
